Winner of Best Foreign Short Film at Chicago’s Reel Shorts Film Festival, Light Opera of Montreal’s first film venture, featuring original songs, deals with prejudice and ageism. Just beginning our tour of festivals around the world, this high quality union film is both funny and dramatic as it delves into the lives of a stolid hard rock shock jock who must compromise and feature new pop groups to stay on the air, only to learn he has link to one of the bubblegum star’s past. LOOM used composers of both pop and hard rock, without prejudice, which is the point of the film: Music is music and should be appreciated and cultivated. We are in the process of writing a feature-length film that features both opera and musical theatre. Premiering at the ACTRA short film festival in Montreal, ROCK ON, DUDE! was selected and featured at the beginning of the festival, earning praise from judges and the audience. With its original songs, comic timing, and surprise plot twist, the audience was able to laugh, cry and bop their heads to the music.
